Can an Algorithm Hire Better Than a Human? – The New York Times

One way to address critical skills gaps is to expand the pool of potential high quality hires. A major barrier in finding people with the right skills is also finding candidates who are a good “cultural fit.” Hiring managers are increasingly obsessed with this today, and for good reason. Unfortunately, the concern with cultural fit also limits the field of potential candidates to people who are “like us” — same schools, same region, same friends. A new generation of software is trying to broaden to scope of potential candidates by identifying applicants who would traditionally be overlooked. These software solutions are in the early stages of use, but if they can broaden your pool of potential candidates, they’re worth checking out.
