Problem

Key managers in a community hospital are approaching retirement and executives worry they will leave with unique expertise about clinical processes that could impact patient safety. The hospital needs new approaches to transferring and retaining this essential know-how.

Solution

We used structured tools to assess the most critical risks and to develop a practical plan for transferring the expertise of veteran employees. Pilot projects were conducted on the most critical transitions, and the hospital’s HR staff was taught how to use the tools to improve knowledge retention in other roles.

Problem

The general manager of a leading provider of compliance and knowledge management software needs to teach veteran sales reps to engage clients in more strategic conversations to broaden revenue opportunities?

Solution

We created a series of customized workshops and webinars and developed sales tools to help account executives engage potential clients in more strategic conversations. This initiative helped the company grow revenues more than $7 million in the first year.

Problem

A state hospital association needed to attract a diverse audience with an innovative program on “Managing Health Care’s Multigenerational Workforce.” The association wanted a kickoff speaker who could engage an audience ranging from CEOs and CNOs to hospital volunteers in pink coats.

Solution

We collaborated with conference organizers to design a program that fully engaged the varied audience in sharing innovative ideas. Evaluations from hospital CEOs and nurse executives confirmed that the content was very valuable and that proposed solutions were highly relevant.

After leading a tailored briefing for the organization’s top 50 managers, we conducted pilot programs in several departments to diagnose capabilities at risk & demonstrate the value of different knowledge retention techniques.

A prominent architecture firm needs to develop the mentoring and feedback skills of its young leaders. Rapid growth and fast promotions have put several Millennials in management roles they are not fully prepared for.

Solution

A company-wide program to develop mentoring skills was followed by a series of customized workshops on using feedback to improve performance. Young managers consistently reported that the techniques they learned were immediately useful in their jobs.

A state chamber of commerce and state banking association need an opening keynote speaker who can provide actionable insights to a very diverse executive audience on addressing their specific talent challenges. Must meet the objectives of both statewide organizations.

Solution

We coordinated meetings with leaders in both organizations and conducted pre-interviews with members of both groups to identify most pressing talent issues and solutions needed. Delivered a tailored keynote presentation described as “outstanding” by both the chamber and banking association’s leaders.

Develop Change Management Competencies of Leadership Team

Problem

A large university needs its senior staff aligned around a new strategy to revamp the school’s online programs. This initiative requires major changes in how the institution is run and the president is concerned about a lack of executive support.

Solution

Using an extensive series of diagnostic interviews, we designed a full day customized seminar for the university’s leadership team. This built support for the new strategy, increased coordination across silos and gave executives tools needed to manage this organizational change.
